Quality of Service: Hard Times Await Telecos Subscribers

Telecommunications subscribers in the country may face poor quality of service issues as some Global System for Mobile communications (GSM) operators scale down operations as a result of the harsh operating environment. This is coming against the backdrop of MTN sacking of some 280 workers and refusal by Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to remove IT/Telecom equipment from list of restricted items in access to foreign exchange. Price Reduction: Uber Drivers Protest in Lagos

The much celebrated prize slash by Uber has left once again its drivers considering a strike action. The reduction which came after competitor, Taxify did same did not go down well with Uber drivers we learnt. According to information, Uber only had a brief meeting with them about 24hours before the announcement and we gathered the meeting was inconclusive till the announcement was made. Warner and YouTube Renew Licensing Deal to Keep Music Streaming

Warner Music Group extended a licensing deal with YouTube, ensuring the label’s songs remain on the web’s most popular destination for streaming music. The deal includes recording and publishing rights, Variety reported Friday, citing an internal memo from Warner Chief Executive Officer Steve Cooper. A Warner spokesman confirmed the authenticity of the memo. Telecoms Operators Loses 1.7million Subscribers in March- NCC

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has said that telecommunication operators lost 1,653,286 subscribers in March. The telecommunications industry regulator made this known in its Monthly Subscriber/Operator Data released on Friday in Lagos. It said that the active telecommunications service customers, which was 154,120,484 in February, declined to 152,467,198 in March, 2017. According to the data, 151,999,197 of the 152,467,198 active numbers subscribed to the Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) network services. The GSM operators’ active customers decreased by 1,662,350 on the 153,661,547 subscribers recorded in February.
