NIMC Extends Diaspora Enrolment to Togo, Niger Republic, Ivory Coast and The Republic of Ireland

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has extended the enrolment of Nigerians living in the Diaspora into the National Identity Database to Togo, Niger Republic, Ivory Coast and the Republic of Ireland. This was announced in statement signed by Abdulhamid Umar, General Manager Operations and Corporate Communications. "NIMC has the mandate to ensure that all Nigerian citizens and Legal Residents are enrolled into the National Identity Database and issued the unique National Identification Number (NIN) upon successful enrolment." NIMC DG – Identity Programme Requires Political Commitment, Funding to Succeed

Nigeria’s national identity programme will not succeed unless there is strong political commitment on the part of government backed by adequate funding, the Director-General of the National Identity Management Commission, (NIMC), Engr. Aliyu Aziz, has warned. Engr. Aliyu Aziz mentioned this at the 6th General Assembly of the Northern Traditional Rulers Council (NTRC) held at the Arewa House, Kaduna, Engr.
